SEVEN Mandalas : Prana Mandala
Prana the "life force" the "vital principle" the constant movement, permeates reality on all levels including in inanimate objects. The mandala is a sacred design in Hinduism and Buddhism. It symbolizes the myriad of aspects of the cosmos. Its intricate patterns guide observers towards understanding the unity and interconnectedness of all things.it used as a meditation tool to help bring one further down the path to enlightenment.
While experimenting with the limitless possibilities of fractal geometry, I found out that along the given axis of a 3d virtual model of the Julia or Mandelbrot set, the diagrammatic fractal iterations evolved into magnificent patterns that uncannily looks like Tibetan Thankga Mandalas.
Even the alcoves of the outer circles resemble the Bodhisattva designs. It is as if Buddhist monks could have experienced in the clarity of their focus such an unimaginable feat of abstract thinking.
As one of the earliest traditional painter to embrace the digital media, (Image de Synthese.) I work with professional imaging software, not as a medium to emulate techniques of the past, but to the contrary as a medium that opens the door to new horizons of artistic expression by surpassing traditional techniques.
The digital media allows limitless possibilities of color relationship and color subtleties which do not exist in traditional methods, that is why I often compose combine and bring forward my traditional work to be enhanced by the digital media.
